Destiny 2 Update news in 2024

Bungie has released a new update for Destiny 2, bringing several significant changes and fixes. The update addresses the performance of the Exotic sniper rifle Still Hunt, especially in combination with certain abilities and armor pieces, and corrects issues with other game elements.

Key Changes in the Update

  1. Nerf to Still Hunt:
    • The Exotic sniper rifle Still Hunt, obtained from The Final Shape, now deals 33% less damage when used with the Celestial Nighthawk helmet. This nerf specifically targets Hunters using the Golden Gun Super with the Celestial Nighthawk, a popular combination for dealing massive single-target damage in raids and other high-level activities.
    • Additionally, the Sniper’s Meditation perk will no longer enhance Still Hunt’s Golden Gun shots, removing a synergy that increased the weapon’s effectiveness.
  2. Armor and Melee Adjustments:
    • The Point-Contact Cannon Brace armor piece had an issue where it would spawn lightning strikes from unintended melee attacks. This has now been fixed, ensuring that the armor’s effects trigger only as intended.
  3. Artifact Perk Fix:
    • The update corrected a bug where the Sniper’s Meditation perk was inadvertently enhancing Still Hunt’s damage. This change aligns with the overall adjustments to Still Hunt’s performance, ensuring balanced gameplay.
  4. Seasonal and Quest Fixes:
    • The update also addressed a problem with the Breach Executable Weekly Challenge, which was not completing the Aggressive Exploration 1 Seasonal Challenge. Players should now find these challenges progressing as expected.
    • In terms of quests, a bug that prevented the Ghost Tracker message from being removed after completing all Lost Ghost quests from Micah-10 has been fixed.
  5. Guardian Ranks and General Fixes:
    • Issues with the Transcendent and Iconoclast titles not counting toward Guardian Rank requirements have been corrected.
    • Xur’s Strange Favor buff, which was supposed to provide bonus Strange Coins during Ritual activities, was not functioning correctly. This has been addressed, and players should now receive the appropriate bonuses.

These updates aim to balance gameplay and improve the overall experience for Destiny 2 players. The adjustments to Still Hunt, in particular, reflect Bungie’s ongoing efforts to maintain balance in the game, especially regarding powerful weapon and armor combinations that can dominate certain activities.
